Devlog 2# New Enemies


As I work on level 2 I'm also creating some new enemy types and I've been putting some thought into  what the new enemies should be and how they create new gameplay.  

For the Marauder enemy type, players weren't flanking as much as they could be so I'm bringing back an old enemy type that only takes minimal damage to the front and push players to flank more often. It also works with the new dash mechanic which helps the player get into a flanking position. 

Cutthroats are an enemy that engages from far away and is very effective against units that are out of cover thus creating gameplay where the player is moving cover to cover to get close enough to the cutthroats to engage them.

For the new Brute enemy who has armor, this enemy will discourage players from constantly using special weapons especially the shotgun and grenade launcher. By preventing players from being effective with equipment that they spam they will be pushed to try to use new tactics and look at equipment they have not tried using yet. 

For Hellraisers who are equipped with firebombs that they use on units that are in cover. The fire stays a few turns so the player will want to move their units out of the fire and not stay in the same place.  

Looters are new enemy type who will stay back and heal damaged enemies instead of trying to attack the player's units. This will to players being more careful or alternately more aggressive as now enemies will be far more durable so the player will either stay back or try to quickly eliminate enemies.
